JOB DETAILS:

Air Force Judge Advocate (JAG)

As a member of this elite group of law professionals, you'll be part of the team that provides a full range of legal services to the U.S. Air Force and its people. You'll also enter a world of opportunity - one where you can take on immediate responsibility, continue your education and gain experience working around the globe in any number of law fields.

The Promise

If you become a JAG in the U.S. Air Force, you'll wield the most powerful force in the world: the rule of law. Your battles will be for justice, for the individual and for the freedom of our nation. Receive specialized training and immediately engage in an exciting, diversified practice of law that includes criminal, international, operational, environmental, medical, labor, space and civil law. You'll focus on your clients and professional development without the distraction of billable hours, so you'll have time for more important things such as promoting justice and providing for the common defense. As an Air Force JAG, new professional and personal experiences will be a way of life.

Quality of Life

The experience of practicing law in a military environment is markedly different from - and we believe better than - that afforded to lawyers in the private sector. Beyond the career itself, Air Force legal professionals enjoy a quality of life second to none. We ensure an extremely rewarding and stable career with benefits such as competitive salaries, food and housing allowances, full comprehensive medical and dental insurance and 30 days of vacation with pay each year, in addition to federal holidays. You'll also have the opportunity to travel and live and work in exciting locations throughout the United States and the world. If you make a career out of Air Force service, you'll have the option of retirement with pension and benefits after only 20 years of service.

Continued Education

Specialized training courses and continuing legal educational opportunities are abundant and provided at government expense. There are short courses for prosecutors, defense counsel and military judges. Also, specialty courses are provided in such areas as medical law, labor law, environmental law, information and operational law, utility contract negotiation and government contracts.

In addition, JAGs are competitively selected every year to return to law school for LL.M.s in specialties like government contracts (procurement), labor law, air and space law, international law and environmental law. Upon completion of the program, Judge Advocates can expect an assignment to a position dealing primarily with their areas of expertise.

Requirements

-This is an active-duty position in the United States Air Force.

-You must be a U.S. citizen.

-You must be less than 35 years of age.

-You must be a graduate of an ABA-accredited law school and be

admitted to the highest court of any state.

-You must be willing to travel and relocate.

Selection is competitive, but we consider more than just your grades, law school and LSAT score.
